Project

New high-tech emergency facilities at William Beaumont Hospital

The new Emergency Care Centre at the William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan will cover 125,300 ft², nearly doubling the size of the current 70,000 ft² facility. The expansion will include 125 private rooms with a section dedicated to paediatric care. It will also feature a new rooftop helipad for critical emergencies.

Contractor Barton Malow chose MEVA’s heavy-duty wall system Imperial in combination with the STB support frame and heavy-duty Triplex braces to meet all needs for the foundations of the new Emergency Room facilities.

Heavy-duty, single-sided
The support frame STB 450 combined with the heavy-duty Imperial wall panels proved to be the ideal solution for the walls being poured against excavated ground. The Triplex braces were ideal for their flexibility in height adjustment and their strength to cope with the high pour loads.

STB 450 allowed for pours of up to 15 feet in a single pour
The frames required no assembly on site and are easily flown into place with the Imperial formwork set up ready for the pour.

With a load capacity of 2,025 psf, the Imperial is capable of taking any pour speed up to a height of 13 ft. without considering concrete type or climatic conditions.
