New Theatre House in Emmen, Netherlands

No-Nonsense Support

The town of Emmen is looking forward to its ultra modern multifunctional theatre house that will house the municipal threatre plus facilities for meetings and events.

The building will be an eyecatcher on Emmen‘s skyline and is part of an extensive urban revitalisation project. The 15,000 m² Theatre House has two auditoriums for 800 and 300 guests. For static and planning reasons, the architects chose prefabricated hollow walls.

After delivery to the site, these had to be connected to other building parts on site in order to ensure that all joints are 100 % soundproof – a job that had to be done with great care on site.

The walls, rising to heights ranging from 5 m to 13 m, needed a sturdy support. Contractor Dura Vermeer selected MEVA‘s heavy-duty braces Triplex in lengths up to 16.8 m. They are put together on site flexibly, placed and adjusted to take up the high loads of the prefab walls.

“Triplex,“ says building manager Bas Beld from Dura Vermeer, “is an unbeatable, modular system that allows us to set the braces to any wall height easily and quickly.
Combined with the excellent engineering support from MEVA in Gouda, we managed to find the perfect solution quickly and without any fuss. As so often!”

South Canal Bridge, Ontario: With no crane possible at busy Hwy 400, MevaLite handles the job with ease

One of Ontario’s busiest transportation corridors, Highway 400, began a major expansion project through Kings Township in late 2016. This $79.3 million dollar (CAD) project includes the widening of the highway from three to six lanes in each direction for a two mile stretch and also entails safer on and off ramps, the expansion and realignment of culverts, and the replacement of two bridges − one of them the South Canal Bridge.

Children enjoy playing with it, teachers recommend it: the shape sorting box. Based on the popular toy, the architects who conceived the new Meséskert nursery designed the play areas on the top floor as a triangle, circle, and square.
